PTA Survey

Dear Parents,

Please take a minute to fill out this quick survey about the PTA at Lakeside Elementary. Our goal is for the PTA to best help you and your family have the most positive experiences at Lakeside. Our fundraisers, especially ROAR, have been crucial in helping teachers pay for field trips, technology, books and basic supplies that our schools cannot provide due to budget cuts and state funding cuts. Your time and feedback is GREATLY appreciated!

Find this google doc survey here:

FUN Day is next Friday!

Fun Day is Friday, May 31st in the afternoon.  It is a FUN event for the children.  The children will rotate with me through stations outside and some will involve water.
  • Students may wear bathing suits if they would like to do so.
    • Girls: Only one-piece bathing suits are permitted.  Wear a cover-up or a t-shirt over bathing suit.
    • Boys: bathing suit with a t-shirt on top.
  • Shoes must be worn but NO FLIP FLOPS.
  • Bring a beach towel and water bottle (labeled with name)
  • Apply sunscreen before school
I would LOVE a few parents to walk with our class and help me with the stations.  Please let me know if you are able to join our class egrin@egrps.org

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help make FUN DAY a SUCCESS!  Please consider signing up to help.  FUN DAY cannot happen without our parent volunteers.

Principal for the Day

One of our fourth graders was "Principal for the Day" today.  This honor was part of our ROAR auction and he won this opportunity to be the principal for the day.  He came to our classroom and read two stories to us and we really enjoyed them!  He even had on a snazzy tie like someone else we know!!!

Good-bye Miss Cindy!

We had to say good-bye to our cadet teacher from the high school on Friday.  The children made cards for her and we had a little good-bye party as well.  We will miss Miss Cindy and wish her all the best in college.

Chrome Books!

We enjoyed trying out the new Chrome Books this past Friday.  Each child was able to use his/her own Chrome Book and learned how to log-in.  We explored www.abcya.com and explored the many learning games found on this website.

We LOVE Books!

We enjoy listening to Max's grandma read to us each week in the Learning Commons.  This week, we listened to Yes Day! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld.  The children have lively discussions with her and she with them.  We are so fortunate that she volunteers her time each week to read to our class.  She also helps our school by reshelving all of the books that the children return to the library.

Poetry Party!

We have been reading many poetry books and enjoying learning about different kinds of poems.  Our Poetry Party is coming up next week and we hope you will be able to join us in our classroom on Thursday, May 23rd from 2:30-3:20.  Invitations will be coming home in your child's Friday Folder tomorrow.

Our Tadpole Visitor

We have been lucky enough to have a tadpole visit our classroom this week!  One of our friends found this tadpole near Reeds Lake and brought it in to share.  We are spending time observing this new friend as well! What fun!!!

We have been examining the tadpole and it's habitat with a flashlight and magnifying glasses.

How could I forget???

How could I have forgotten to post a picture of our wonderful worms!  The children have enjoyed observing, feeding, touching, and misting them every day!  We have used our magnifying glasses to get a good look at our wonderful worms as well as written some wonderful observations about them.

If you look very closely, you can see a large redworm in the center
of the picture.  There are 23 more hiding and burrowing in the soil!
