The Little Engine that Could

We enjoyed going to see the play, The Little Engine that Could, on Wednesday.  Thank you to the parents who helped chaperone our field trip.  We all left the play remembering some very important words..."I KNOW I CAN!"

Celebrating the 140th Day of School!!!!

The children once again enjoyed celebrating the 140th Day of School with ZERO THE HERO on Wednesday!  He swooped into our room, counted with the children, sang songs, read a story, and passed out a zero treat!  Only 3 more ZERO THE HERO visits remain:(

Sharing Homework for April/May

Homework for the week of April 29-May 3: Mystery Letter!  Choose any letter of the alphabet and choose an object that begins with that letter. Write 3 clues about your object to share with the class. For example: Starts with the letter B. You can bounce it. It is round. Answer: BALL

Homework for the week of May 6-10: Bring in a favorite poem.  If you do not have a favorite poem, this is a great opportunity to check out some poetry books from the library and enjoy some poetry this weekend/week.  The children will begin to write their own poems this week so continued exposure to poetry will be very beneficial for them.

Homework for the week of May 13-17: Free choice sharing.  Bring in sharing of your own choosing.

Homework for the week of May 20-24: Our Poetry Party is on Thursday, May 23rd from 2:30 - 3:15.  Choose your Poetry Party outfit!

Homework for the week of May 27-May 31: No school on Monday.  Due to the short week there will be no sharing.

Snack Donations

We are down to a small bag of raisins in the snack cupboard.  Many children do not have an afternoon snack and they are so hungry after their last recess.  Please be sure to send 2 snacks each day for your child (morning snack and afternoon snack).  If you would like to donate pretzels, granola bars, goldfish or something similar for those days that children forget to pack a snack, I would appreciate it the assistance.

Booster Seats needed for tomorrow!

Please send in your child's BOOSTER SEAT for tomorrow's field trip.  Be sure that your last name is on the booster seat because many of the seats are the same or look very similar.  Thank you!

Calling all Runners!

I am so proud of our kindergarten runners!  We have completed week 3 and now have 3 punches on our Running Club cards!  The children are doing a great job each Monday running and walking around the gym.  It is great to see all of their smiles and hear their laughter as they run past me:)

Running Club!

We had a BLAST running in the gym yesterday for our 2nd time!  Everyone did a great job running and walking in the gym.  It was great to see so many children in their Running Club shirts:)  Everyone had their Running Club card punched too!

Planning Time

We enjoyed Planning Time outside yesterday.  The children had fun painting with water
and chalk.  They painted with water on the bricks as well as the sidewalk.

Chapter Book Read Alouds and Library

During the last few months we finished 2 more chapter books!  We enjoyed listening to these books during our quiet time after lunch recess.
We have just begun a new chapter book read aloud today!  We are now reading Welcome to the Bed and Biscuit.  This is the first book in the series written by Joan Carris.  All of the books came highly recommended from Pooh's Corner.  The children especially LOVE when we read a "medal" book!

We are also so fortunate to have Max's grandma read to us every Thursday during our library time.  This week she read Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.  The children love having her help them choose and recommend new books to them.  We have also recently enjoyed Sylvester and the Magic Pebble and How Rocket Learned to Read.

...and more Spring Break Adventures!
